The miracle was not only sufficient, but abundant. The twelve full baskets of leftovers show that Christ’s provision not only meets the need, but also surpasses it. He never gives with scarcity. In His hand, the little becomes much. The twelve baskets could also have been a special lesson for the Twelve themselves, so that each disciple might see with his own eyes and carry with his own hands the testimony of Christ’s abundance. Those who a moment earlier were counting the lack of bread were now carrying baskets of fullness. In this way the Lord trains His servants, turning their fearful calculation into living testimony.
