send this crowd away, so that they may go to the surrounding farms and villages and buy food for themselves, because they have nothing to eat here.”։۔
The disciples’ suggestion was an ordinary human, logical solution. They wanted the crowd to go and buy bread for themselves. In their eyes, the best help was for people to find the means for their own needs. But here they still do not understand that Christ Himself, by His presence, is enough to supply those needs. This is often repeated in the life of faith as well. When we stand before great need, worry, and problems, the first thought is to go after other places, other means, other solutions, instead of coming more deeply before Christ Himself. This verse shows the need for the disciples’ faith to grow.
