Mark 6:10

And He was saying to them, “Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave from there.

This instruction taught them to be content with what they had and not to fall under the influence of human preferences. If they were received in some place, they were to remain in the same house until they left, and to be satisfied with the hospitality they had received, accepting it as a portion given by God. They were not to move from one house to another, seeking more comfortable conditions or a more honorable reception. By acting this way they were to show their sincerity and their freedom from self-interest. Moreover, this helped prevent divisions among the residents or the impression that they wanted the best or selective hospitality from people. The dignity of a minister of the Gospel is also shown in such details: contentment, humility, and sincerity. The one who is sent by Christ must not serve his stomach or his comforts, but his calling.
