Here the scene of fear begins. The storm was great, the waves were pouring in, and the boat was already filling up. This description shows that the danger was not imaginary, but real. The disciples were not people unfamiliar with the sea either, especially since some of them were fishermen. If they were so terrified, it means the situation was truly severe. In the spiritual life as well there are such moments, when it seems that everything is being flooded by waves, and a person is standing on the edge of ruin. The strength of this story is that it does not downplay the danger. The Gospel never says that a believer’s trials are imaginary. The storm is real, but within it another, greater reality must be revealed: the Lord’s authority.
