And on that same day, when evening came, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side of the lake.”
This verse moves the narrative from the field of teaching to the field of testing. Christ Himself says, “Let us cross to the other side of the lake.” This detail is important, because the disciples’ later trial will take place precisely on the path of obedience to His word. Sometimes the believer is in a storm not because of disobedience, but because it is determined by the Lord’s will. This is a great comfort, because hardship is not always a sign that a person is on the wrong path. If the Lord is leading, then even the storm becomes the place where a person comes to know His authority more deeply.
