Then He said to them, “Pay careful attention to what you hear. More will be given to you who hear. With whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you.”
This verse teaches responsible listening. The words “Pay attention to what you hear” are not only about choosing the content, but about the attitude with which the word of God is received. “With the measure you measure, it will be measured to you” means that with the same seriousness, humility, and attentiveness with which a person approaches the truth, in the same way he will also receive from it. If he receives it with an open heart, he will receive more. If he listens with indifference or superficiality, what he gains will also be little. This is an important law of the kingdom of God. Spiritual understanding does not grow by itself, mechanically, but is given by God to those who respond to His word with seriousness. Here, in the words “more will be given to you who hear,” there is also great hope: God gladly increases the light for those who are faithful to the light they have already received.
