From Jerusalem, from the other side of the Jordan, and also those who were from the region around Tyre and Sidon. A great crowd was coming to Him when it heard how many things He was doing.
This verse shows how widely Christ’s fame had spread. Various regions are mentioned here, not only Jewish centers but also more distant and partly Gentile places, which makes it clear that the report of His works had reached different peoples. People were coming, having heard about the miracles He had done, and that fame was drawing them to Him. Although many were approaching mainly with the expectation of healing or help, even that approach became an occasion for them to encounter the power and truth of God. From this also follows that Christ’s ministry is not limited within one people, but by its nature is directed toward all humanity.
