They returned home, and the crowd came together again, so that they did not even have time to eat bread.
This verse shows the heavy burden of Christ’s ministry. They returned home, yet even there they found no rest: the crowd gathered around them again, and the flow was so great that they did not even have time to eat bread. This shows that Christ’s ministry was not confined to any place, and even moments of withdrawal were turned into new service. It also testifies that during His earthly life the Lord served amid great pressures, weariness, and constant demands, not sparing Himself for people. He enters into the human condition in its full depth, except for sin. At the same time, the greatness of human need is also seen here. People were coming to Him, both for healing and for help. Yet sadly, among them there were also those who were seeking Him not as Lord, but mainly because of their needs (John 6:26).
