Mark 15:40

There were also women there, watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and also Salome,

This verse shows the faithfulness of the women who remained nearby at the time of Jesus’ crucifixion, even though they were watching from a distance. They could not change what was happening and could not openly intervene, yet by their presence they bore witness to love, faithfulness, and courage. Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and Salome are mentioned by name because they not only saw the Lord’s death, but later would testify about His burial and resurrection. While many of the disciples had withdrawn out of fear, these women remained, even from afar, showing that true love is sometimes expressed not with great words, but with a quiet and faithful presence. This scene also emphasizes that in the history of His salvation, God gives an honored place to those who, with humility, love, and faithfulness, remain beside Christ even in the hour of suffering.
