Mark 15:3

The chief priests were bringing many accusations against Him, but Jesus was answering nothing.

The many accusations of the chief priests show that they had no well-founded charge and were trying, with a flood of words, to cover the absence of truth. When the heart has decided to reject Christ, it will always find pretexts against Him. Yet the multitude of accusations cannot conceal His innocence. Christ stands as the spotless Lamb, and His silence was not weakness, but holy patience and voluntary obedience to the Father’s will. He does not enter into the clamor of false accusations, because He is consciously going on the path of sacrifice. Before a human court He is accused, so that through Him sinners may be justified before God.
