Mark 15:20

When they had mocked Him, they took the purple robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him out to crucify Him.

After the mockery, the road to the cross begins. The soldiers give Him back His garments and lead Him out to execution. The words “they led Him out” remind us that Christ was to suffer outside the city, as one rejected and dishonored. Yet He goes out in order to open a way of holiness for His people. People brought Him out as a condemned man, but within the will of God He came out as a sacrifice, who by His blood cleanses people from sin. The path of His humiliation is the path of salvation for us all.
