Mark 14:67

and seeing that he was warming himself, she looked at him closely and said, “You also were with Jesus of Nazareth.”

The servant girl’s words were a clear recognition, but for Peter they became a sharp moment of testing. He was warming himself by the fire where his identity was soon to be exposed. The words, “You also were with Jesus of Nazareth,” were in fact an honor, because to be with Christ is a person’s greatest blessing. But at that moment Peter took it as a danger. When a person fears the world’s judgment, he can be ashamed of the bond that in truth should have been his boast.
