Mark 14:55

Now the chief priests and the whole council were seeking testimony against Jesus, in order to put Him to death, but they were not finding any.

The chief priests and the whole council had decided the outcome beforehand, and only afterward were looking for testimony. This is a complete perversion of justice: they should have examined the truth, but they were seeking an accusation in order to kill Him. Yet they could not find true testimony, because Christ was innocent. This verse shows His purity even before an enemy court. There was no sound argument to condemn Him, and so they resorted to false testimony. Human injustice is revealed here in full, and on the other hand the innocence of the Lamb of God stands out with the same clarity.
