Mark 14:40

And returning, He again found them sleeping, because their eyes had become heavy, and they did not know what to answer Him.

The disciples’ repeated sleep shows their deep weakness. Their eyes had grown heavy, and they remained without an answer before the Lord. This is the moment when a person’s self-confident words fall silent in the face of a real trial. They could not excuse themselves, because they had been warned a little earlier. Yet the Lord still does not abandon them. This scene reveals two realities: the disciples’ weakness and Christ’s solitary obedience. Our salvation is not founded on the disciples’ wakefulness, but on the Savior’s unshakable obedience.
