And again He went away and prayed, saying the same words.
Christ again prays with the same words. This shows that in a severe trial, repeating the same prayer may be not an empty repetition, but deep and continual obedience. He continues to bring His pain before the Father and to submit His will to the Father’s will. The prayer in Gethsemane was not a momentary feeling, but a struggle in which the Lord remained steadfast unto complete obedience. The believer learns here that when the heart is heavy, one must go again and again before God until finding peace in His will.
