“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
The Lord clearly says that knowledge of the final day and hour is hidden from people. Even the angels of heaven do not know that time, because it belongs to the Father’s authority. The phrase “nor the Son” must be understood in the light of Christ’s humble incarnation: He, being true God and true man, by His human nature entered into the real limitation of humanity, without ceasing to be the Son of God. Therefore this word does not diminish His divinity, but reveals His humility and the mystery of His saving ministry. This word cuts off all human calculations and date predictions. It is not God’s will that we know the day and the hour, but His will that we live each day with readiness, faith, and holiness.
