Then they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds (Dan. 7:13) with power and great glory.
This verse is one of the most glorious declarations in Mark chapter 13. The Son of Man, who was to be rejected, crucified, and dishonored, is the same One who will come upon the clouds with power and great glory. This saying has a clear connection with Daniel’s vision, where One like the Son of Man comes with the clouds of heaven and receives authority, glory, and an everlasting kingdom (Dan. 7:13–14). In Holy Scripture, clouds are often associated with God’s presence, glory, and judgment. Christ’s coming will be open, triumphant, and royal. He will no longer appear in the form of humility and suffering, but as Judge and King. This word comforts persecuted believers, because their Lord, whom the world rejected, will finally be revealed as the Lord of glory.
