Then if anyone says to you, “Look, Christ is here,” or “Look, He is there,” do not believe it.
In the time of great tribulation, false reports and counterfeit messianic claims will be very dangerous. The Lord warns beforehand so that His disciples will not run after every word. The expressions “Look, here” or “look, there” show the temptation in which people tie Christ’s presence to hidden places, human movements, or false revelations. The true Christ will not return secretly or in a way that deceives people. His coming will be with divine authority and open glory. Therefore, the believer must be guided not by people’s loud proclamations, but by the word given beforehand by Christ and by sober spiritual discernment.
