Mark 13:15

Whoever is on the roof, let him not go down or enter the house to take anything out of his house,

The Lord describes the urgency of the danger. The one who is on the roof should not go down into the house and lose time to take anything from his possessions, because the way of salvation required immediate obedience. This word was first of all a practical instruction for those fleeing at the time of Jerusalem’s destruction, yet it also has a deep spiritual teaching: when the time of God’s judgment draws near, clinging to worldly possessions can bring a person to ruin. Christ teaches that life, faithfulness, and obedience to the word of God are incomparably more important than material gains. Therefore, when the Lord shows the way of salvation, the believer must respond at once, without looking back and without clinging to passing things.
