Jesus said to him, “Go, your faith has saved you.” Immediately his eyes were opened, and on the road he was following Jesus.
Christ’s word immediately brings healing. The phrase “Your faith has saved you” does not mean that faith had power on its own, but that faith was the means by which he received Christ’s mercy. He saw at once, because the Lord’s word is living and powerful. Yet the most beautiful fruit of the healing is that he began to follow Jesus on the road. He did not simply return to his former life with new eyes, but made his sight the beginning of discipleship. This is the right response to Christ’s grace: whoever is enlightened by His mercy is called to follow Him on the way.
