Mark 10:49

Jesus stopped and commanded that they call him. And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take courage, get up, He is calling you.”

Christ’s stopping is a sign of great mercy. He was going toward Jerusalem, toward the most weighty mystery of the cross, yet He stops for the cry of a blind beggar. This reveals the immeasurable compassion of His heart. The same people who had just been rebuking the blind man now call him. When the Lord calls, people’s attitude also changes. The words “Take courage, get up, He is calling you” are like the Gospel’s invitation also to all who are spiritually blind.
