Mark 10:27

Jesus looked at them and said, “For people this is impossible, but not for God, because for God all things are possible.”

Christ’s answer reveals the hope of the Gospel. For a human being, salvation is impossible, because sin, pride, and the idols of the heart are stronger than a person’s will. But for God all things are possible. He can break the hardness of the heart, set one free from dependence on wealth, humble the proud, and bring to life the one who is dead in spirit. This is not an expression of human merit, but of God’s almighty grace. If salvation depended on man, no one would be saved. But since salvation is God’s work, there is hope even for the person whose heart, to human eyes, seems hopeless, hardened, and deeply bound to sin.
