The Lord heard my plea. the Lord accepted my prayer.
David confirms his confidence through repetition. The words “heard” and “accepted” show that the prayer has not been lost in emptiness. The Lord not only became aware of his pain, but also graciously accepted his request. This does not mean that God always answers in exactly the way and at the time we desire. The acceptance of prayer rests on His wisdom and goodness. When a believer draws near with repentance and confidence, he can be assured that God hears. In the New Covenant, Christ has opened the way that leads to the Father, and the one who prays in His name draws near to the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). This verse encourages us not to stop praying when the answer is not yet visible. David’s confidence was born in prayer. He began with weakness and ended with assurance. Remaining long in God’s presence often does not only change the situation, but first changes the heart of the one who prays.
