The Lord is living, blessed is my Rock, and may the God of my salvation be exalted.
The final section of the Psalm returns to praise. The words “The Lord lives” affirm that God is real, active, and eternal. He stands in contrast to powerless idols and to passing human strengths. David again calls Him my Rock, recalling the firm foundation of the whole Psalm. The words “Let the God of my salvation be exalted” do not mean that a person can make God greater or higher than He already is. Here David expresses his worship, acknowledging God’s supremacy and glory, and proclaiming aloud that the source of his salvation is precisely Him. That is, God is not raised up by human speech; rather, the person, with his heart and testimony, exalts His name, giving Him the honor He deserves. For the believer, this is the right response after deliverance. It is easy, after receiving help, to return to everyday life and forget the One who kept and delivered. David, however, turns his victory into praise. When God keeps and delivers us, the center of our testimony should not be our ability, but His power and faithfulness. In this way, the salvation received finds its natural completion in glorification directed to God.
