David describes the complete defeat of his enemies with images of dust and mud. Those who previously seemed strong and dangerous, in the victory God gives, become powerless and scattered. This poetic military language does not mean denying people’s dignity and cannot serve to justify hatred or violence. Historically, it speaks about David’s royal wars. In a spiritual sense, the verse reminds us that the authority of evil that opposes God is not finally secure. What today seems strong and unshakable can be scattered like dust before God’s judgment. The believer should not envy the temporary success of evil or adopt its ways. His calling is to remain steadfast in truth and righteousness, entrusting the final judgment to God.
