Then the beds of the waters appeared, and the foundations of the world were laid bare at Your rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the wind of Your anger.
God’s intervention is presented as so powerful that even the beds of the waters and the foundations of the world are uncovered. This is an image of creation-scale magnitude, by which David shows the greatness of the Lord’s authority. Before His rebuke, nothing is so deep or hidden that it remains outside His sight and rule. The phrase “from the blowing of the wind of Your anger” is poetic, anthropomorphic language, not a bodily description of God. For the believer, this verse is a reminder that the Lord also sees what is hidden from our eyes. Human problems often have deep causes that we do not fully recognize, whereas God sees not only the outward manifestations, but also their foundations and roots. He can act precisely where we do not even see a way. This verse also humbles a person: if even the foundations of the world are subject to God’s authority, then all the more our life and every circumstance around us are not outside His hand. Therefore, in hardship our confidence should not be based on the fact that we understand the whole picture, but on the fact that we trust God, who sees the problem completely and has authority to act in its deepest layers.
