Let my judgment come forth from You. let Your eyes see what is right.
David asks that the verdict concerning his case come directly from God. He does not want his righteousness to be decided by people’s opinions, bias, or outward impressions, but entrusts his cause to the Lord as the perfect Judge. The words “Let Your eyes see what is right” show that God sees reality as it truly is and bases His judgment on truth. Such a prayer also requires inner confidence. David is ready to submit his case to God’s examination, because he knows that nothing can be hidden before Him. In the same way, at a time of injustice or false accusation, the believer can entrust his cause to the Lord, being confident that He sees what people may not see. That confidence frees a person from the need to justify himself before people at any cost and teaches him to care more that his conduct is upright before God.
