All have turned aside. together they have become corrupt. There is no one who does good, not even one.
The words “All have turned aside” portray humanity that has strayed from God and from the path He has set. This is not about the accidental mistakes of individual people, but about the universal influence of sin: humanity as a whole has moved away from its Creator and from His will. The phrase “Together they have become corrupt” deepens this thought, showing that sin has not only damaged a person’s individual deeds, but has distorted his entire inner direction. The words “There is none who does good, not even one” do not mean that people never do anything useful or morally good. They mean that by the standard of God’s holiness no one, by his own nature and strength, is perfectly righteous before Him. The apostle Paul uses these words in precisely this sense, to show that both Jews and Gentiles are under sin and that all need the grace of God (Romans 3:9–12). This truth strips a person of self-justification and leads him to humility, to recognize that the hope of righteousness and salvation is not in one’s own merits, but in God’s mercy and grace, which were revealed fully in Jesus Christ.
