Blessed are the merciful, for they will find mercy.
In this saying Jesus blesses those who, from the heart, show compassion, forgiveness, and do good toward others. Mercy is not only material help, but also showing forgiveness, patience, and comfort directed to people’s spiritual and human pains. A merciful person becomes like God, because God Himself is the source of mercy. Jesus promises that those who live with mercy will themselves find God’s mercy, both in this life, in the form of peace and inner rest, and in eternity, in complete forgiveness. This saying affirms the divine law of reciprocity: whoever shows mercy to others opens the door to God’s mercy.
