Matthew 5:42

Give to the one who asks something from you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

In these words Jesus emphasizes the importance of generosity and compassion. He urges that if someone asks for something or wants to borrow, we should be ready to help willingly, without turning away or ignoring the request. This teaches a readiness to support others, even when it may require sacrifice or inconvenience. Jesus calls us to rely on God’s care, not fearing that giving will take something away from us. The matter is not only about material help, but also about kindness and compassion—helping those who are in difficulty. This approach contributes to forming a culture of love, help, and mutual support, which stands opposed to selfishness and self-centeredness, where a person is accustomed to thinking only about himself.
