Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

In these words Jesus urges His followers to live in such a way that a person’s faith and deeds become a living testimony for the glory of God. “Light” here symbolizes faith, truth, and a life of holiness, which reflect God’s presence within a person. Jesus does not say, “keep your light,” but rather, “shine,” that is, let it radiate through the example of your life. Good works are not a self-serving display, but a path by which people can come to know God. Thus, every good work of a believer is called not to magnify the believer, but to glorify the Lord. A Christian is called to live so that his conduct becomes a mirror of God’s love and truth in this world.
