Matthew 3:4

And John himself wore a garment of camel’s hair and had a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.

This passage describes the outward appearance and way of life of John the Baptist, which were simple and strict. His clothing was made of camel’s hair, a very plain and rough material, which shows his humility and distance from worldly comforts. He wore a leather belt, adding to the simplicity of his appearance. John’s food also expresses his strict way of life: he ate locusts (likely certain kinds of insects) and wild honey, living on whatever could naturally be found in the wilderness. This description highlights John’s separation from the world and his spiritual devotion, which matched his prophetic calling to prepare people for the coming of the Lord.
