Matthew 3:13

At that time Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan, to John, to be baptized by him.

This verse marks the beginning of Jesus’ earthly ministry as the visible fulfillment of the plan of salvation. He comes to John not as a sinner, but as the spotless Lamb, who willingly identifies himself with sinful humanity. By his baptism, Jesus shows perfect humility and obedience to the Father’s will, entering the same water where people were seeking cleansing. Through this act, he takes upon himself the sin of humanity, preparing the way for baptism with the Holy Spirit. Thus, Jesus’ baptism becomes a boundary between the old life and the new, spiritual life, where the revelation of the kingdom of God in the world begins.
