The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid. I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.”
The angel’s words, “Do not be afraid,” show the heavenly peace that stands in contrast to the guards’ terror. He assures the women that their search is right, because they are seeking the One who, by his cross, conquered death. This word of the angel was not only comfort, but also revelation: he confirms that what is taking place is part of God’s plan of salvation.
