For I tell you that from now on you will not see me until you say, “Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord” (Ps. 118:26, Matt. 21:9).
These words of Jesus are at once a prophecy and a promise. He declares that the people will no longer see Him in the way they see Him now, as the Messiah dwelling among them, until they accept Him as the Savior sent by the Lord. The words, “Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord,” recall Psalm 118, which the people sang at the time of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. Now this expression becomes a future promise for the day when Israel, in repentance, will receive Christ. This word also has an eternal meaning: a person cannot truly see Christ if he does not receive Him in his heart as the One who comes in the name of the Lord. This is not a sentence of condemnation, but a prophetic word filled with love, with the hope of future reconciliation and recognition.
