Matthew 21:37

Finally he sent his son to them, saying, “They will respect my son.”

In this verse, the landowner’s sending of his son symbolizes that God sends Christ as the final and greatest messenger to His people. The words, “They will be ashamed before my son,” show God’s last and most compassionate call, hoping that those who rejected the prophets will recognize the divine authority of His Son and return. This statement reveals the depth of God’s boundless love and, at the same time, the hardness of the human heart, since the Lord approached not with judgment, but with love and with the presence of a Son. The sending of Christ means the last opportunity for salvation that God gave to humanity before righteous judgment. Thus, the landowner hoped that the son’s coming would awaken humility and respect, but the story showed that human hard-heartedness rejected even that sacred gift.
