Matthew 21:36

Again he sent other servants, more than the former ones, and they treated them in the same way.

God continues, with patience and mercy, to send servants—prophets—yet they were rejected by people in the same way. This word testifies to God’s boundless patience and that He did not stop reminding and calling His people, even after the persecution of the servants sent by Him. Here human hard-heartedness is revealed, because repeated calls and warnings did not bring repentance, but rather deepened disobedience. With these words Jesus shows that God had spoken many times with Israel through the prophets, but each time they had rejected Him with the same attitude and pride.
