But others fell on good soil and bore fruit: one a hundred, another sixty, and another thirty.
Jesus describes the portion of the seeds that fell on fertile soil, that is, into a fruitful and prepared environment. These seeds were able to grow, develop, and bear fruit in different measures: a hundredfold, sixtyfold, and thirtyfold. This picture shows that under the right conditions the seeds produce an abundant harvest. Fertile soil is the environment where the seed receives the necessary care, moisture, and nourishment, which allows it to mature and bear much fruit. Jesus will later explain what the fertile soil symbolizes in a spiritual sense.
