Matthew 13:50

And they will throw them into the furnace of fire. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth there.

This saying is a continuation of Jesus’ picture of judgment, with a direct connection to the previous, 49th verse. It describes what fate awaits those whom the angels separate from the righteous. The fiery furnace symbolizes the final judgment—the torment of Gehenna—and “weeping and gnashing of teeth” describes deep sorrow, regret, and inner anguish. This is not only an image of physical pain, but also of spiritual emptiness—the irreversible condition of being separated from God. With these words Jesus not only warns, but also calls people to draw a serious conclusion and to live a life that is worthy of the character of a son of God’s kingdom.
