Matthew 13:36

Then Jesus left the crowd and came into the house. The disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.”

In this episode an important transition is seen. Jesus separates from the crowd and enters a house with the disciples, which symbolizes a stage of deeper and more inward teaching. For the crowd the parable remained open, according to the readiness of the heart, but the disciples come near and openly ask for an interpretation, admitting that they still do not fully grasp what was said. This shows the course of their spiritual maturation: they are no longer satisfied with only hearing, but desire to understand the depth of the truth. The disciples’ question testifies to humility and readiness to learn, because the mysteries of the kingdom of God are revealed not to the self-sufficient, but to hearts that ask and seek.
