Matthew 10:37

Whoever loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And whoever loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

In this saying, Jesus clearly shows that devotion to God must be the most important and primary thing, even above such significant bonds as one’s ties with family members. Jesus emphasizes that true faith requires complete devotion and sincere love toward God, which outweighs all other bonds and relationships. This does not mean that a person should not have love and respect for his family; rather, it means that loving God must be greater. This saying stresses that God’s will must be placed first, and if we are ready to sacrifice everything for Him, then we are worthy of Him.
