And brother will hand brother over to death, and a father his child, and children will rise up against their parents and kill them.
In this passage Jesus speaks about the fact that His followers may face complex and difficult situations, as a result of which there can be great troubles even within families. Jesus points out that hostility and intolerance toward faith can be so strong that even family members will rise up cruelly against one another, resulting in murders. These words emphasize the hardships of the path of faith, because some people, by accepting Jesus’ teaching, may face rejection and opposition even from those closest to them.
