Mark 7:37

And being exceedingly astonished, they were saying, “He has done everything well, because He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

This final verse concludes the chapter with a beautiful testimony spoken from the people’s lips. The words “He did everything well” recall the echo of the original goodness of creation. The Christ who now works among people is the same Lord who in the beginning made everything good. In a fallen world, where sin has crippled the human body and soul, He comes to restore and set right what has been damaged. Making the deaf able to hear and the mute able to speak are not merely medical miracles, but signs of the restoring salvation that the Messiah brings to the world. The people are amazed, because they see not only power, but also precision and goodness. He does everything “well.” In His works there is no distortion, no misplaced force, and no empty display; rather, everywhere wisdom, mercy, and perfection are seen. Thus, this chapter ends with a glorious testimony about the person of Christ: He is the Lord who opens what is shut, straightens what is twisted, and does everything well.
