At that moment his ears were opened, the bonds of his tongue fell away, and he spoke clearly.
The healing is done immediately and completely, without intermediate states. His ears are opened, the bond of his tongue is loosened, and he begins to speak clearly. Christ’s work is not unfinished. He does not help only in part, but fully sets right what was crippled. This miracle shows that He is Lord over a person’s senses. What was naturally impaired is restored by His power to its true function. So also in spiritual life, the Lord opens the believing person’s ear toward His truth and loosens his tongue, so that he may rightly confess God.
