And after some days He entered Capernaum again, and it was reported that He was at home.
This verse shows that Christ’s presence was again gathering people around Him. In Capernaum He was already known for His teaching and miracles, so as soon as it was heard that He was in the house, the people’s expectation was stirred up again. This brief note is important because it shows the living course of the spread of the Gospel: where Christ was, people were drawn to Him—some out of need, some out of amazement, and some out of a thirst for faith. Yet an outward approach still did not mean true faith. The Gospel continues to show that gathering to Christ is only the beginning, and the real blessing comes when a person not only draws near to Him, but also receives His word with the heart.
