And concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God said to him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’ (Exodus 3:6).
The Lord proves the truth of the resurrection from the very book of Moses (Exodus 3:6), which the Sadducees regarded as having special authority. God said, “I am the God of Abraham,” not “I was.” This shows that the fathers of the covenant are alive before God. God does not call Himself the God of those who have been destroyed, but their God who are in a living relationship with Him. This word reveals the eternal nature of the covenant: God’s faithfulness does not end at the boundary of death. He who bound Himself to His people preserves their life and in the end will also raise their bodies.
