Have you not read that word of the Holy Scripture: ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
The Lord reveals through Holy Scripture that His rejection is not accidental, but a reality foretold by prophecy (Psalm 118:22). The builders were the religious leaders, who should have recognized the foundation of God’s work, but they rejected Christ. Yet their rejection did not hinder God’s plan. The rejected stone became the cornerstone, the foundation on which God’s new people are built. This is the great mystery of Christ’s cross and resurrection: people considered Him worthless, but the Father exalted Him as the only and absolute foundation of salvation.
