They told them just as Jesus had commanded, and they let them go.
The disciples repeat the Lord’s word, and the resistance ceases. This shows the power of Christ’s authority, even when it is conveyed through the mouths of His disciples. They add nothing and take nothing away, but speak just as Jesus commanded. An obedient word brings an open way. This verse teaches that in the work of God, a faithful messenger must pass on the Lord’s word with simplicity and confidence. When the work belongs to Christ, He Himself opens the necessary doors.
