They went and found the donkey outside, tied near the door on the street, and they untied it.
The disciples find everything just as Jesus had said beforehand. This confirms the infallibility of His word and the fruitfulness of the disciples’ obedience. They did not know what they would find, but they went in faith. Their obedience was simple, yet within that simple obedience a great prophetic event was being fulfilled. This verse teaches that faithfulness to the Lord’s word often begins with small steps. When a person obeys Christ’s simple instruction, he can become a participant in a great divine plan, even if he does not yet fully understand the whole mystery.
