And He said to them, “Let us go to the nearby towns and villages, so that I may preach there also, because that is why I have come.”
This verse reveals the deliberate purpose of Jesus’ ministry. He is not confined to the great interest that arose in one place or to the fame spread about Him, but moves forward so that the message of the Gospel may reach more people. The words “That is why I have come” show the clarity of His mission: He came to preach, to enlighten, and to proclaim the message of salvation. Miracles were important, but they never replaced the word. Thus, Christ teaches that the spread of the kingdom of God requires movement, faithfulness to the mission, and freedom from human glory.
